NDLEA Arrests Widow for Concealing Cocaine With Fake Pregnancy

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 50-year-old widow, Mrs. Ifeoma Ezewuike, for attempting to traffic cocaine while disguising as a pregnant woman.

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, said Ezewuike, a fashion designer and mother of one, was caught last Friday at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, Lagos. She was allegedly on her way to deliver 1.3 kilogrammes of cocaine to buyers in Abuja.

A search of her residence at Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, led to the discovery of 200 grammes of cutting agent, a chemical used in processing illicit drugs.

According to Babafemi, Ezewuike admitted during interrogation that she inherited the illegal trade from her late husband, who died two years ago. She claimed, however, to have run a fashion business, Golden Star Creation, in Lagos for the past two decades.

The NDLEA said investigations are ongoing to uncover Ezewuike’s network of collaborators.
