Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Sunday stormed a newly established Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting the pastor, his wife, and several worshippers.
The attack occurred mid-service, throwing the community into panic as gunshots rang out. Witnesses said the congregation fled in different directions to escape the armed men who reportedly whisked away the pastor, popularly known as Orlando, alongside his wife and other church members.
Residents described the incident as frightening, noting that the assailants invaded the area unexpectedly, leaving many in shock. The exact number of abductees remains unclear as security agencies continue to assess the situation.
As of press time, neither the Kogi State Government nor the Police had issued an official statement regarding the attack.
