Gunmen Abduct Pastor, Church Member in Kogi

Gunmen have abducted Pastor Friday Adehi of the Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN) Church and a church member, Gabriel Ezekiel, in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 24, 2025, along the Ajegwu–Ojodu road. The victims were said to be returning to their residence in Itobe after attending a naming ceremony following church service when they were attacked.

Witnesses said the duo, who were traveling on a motorcycle, ran into the armed men who had laid an ambush on the road. The assailants reportedly stopped them at gunpoint and whisked them into the bush.

Local vigilantes and security operatives under the joint task force are said to be trailing the kidnappers. In addition, community members have launched a self-help initiative to clear bushes along the Itobe–Anyigba road in a bid to reduce ambush attacks, with funding support from philanthropist Dr. Simeon Oyigu.

Meanwhile, the CEFN Church and other Christian groups have declared prayers and fasting for the safe release of the abducted victims.
