Senate uncovers N14.7b PHCN money in bank accounts

N14.7 billion belonging to the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), has been uncovered by the Senate, being money allegedly hidden in commercial banks by the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE). Senate Public Accounts Committee, chaired by Senator Matthew Urhoghide, relied on a 2017 Auditor General’s report to unravel the money. A 38-year-old man, Daniel Udoh, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing one Emaka Umonko, the husband of a woman with whom he was allegedly having a secret love affair. Suspected Fulani herdsmen who invaded Molege Village in Ose Council Area of Ondo State have left no fewer than three persons dead.
