A Federal High Court in Kano has issued an order stopping the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law. Justice Mohammed Liman granted the order in an application by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate. Court papers regarding the case have since gone viral. Four years after dethronement, Sanusi reinstated as Emir of Kano

The dethroned emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has been reistatated. This was announced by the Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf. Yusuf announced the reinstatement of Sanusi shortly after he signed the bill abolishing the five emirates created in 2019, on Thursday. In March 2020, Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano, deposed Sanusi as Emir of Kano “for total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the governor”.
