Gunmen reportedly killed about 10 persons this weekend in Kaduna state. At least 10 persons were killed by suspected bandits during separate attacks in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The bandits also kidnapped an unspecified number of people, mainly women, from the communities during the operation that lasted several hours. Rebecca Danjuma, 25 and Andrew Magdem, 23, have been sentenced to 12 strokes of cane each by a Gwagwalada Senior Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced, for stealing nine split AC units, and three orthopedic mattresses from a hotel. The police charged Danjuma, Magdem and Lamba Ayuba with criminal trespass, joint act and theft. While Danjuma and Magdem pleaded guilty, Ayuba pleaded not guilty. Kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, was on Friday sentenced to life imprisonment after a four-year trial, for conspiring with two others to kidnap Mr Donatius Dunu, Chief Executive Officer, Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Detained Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has been denied bail by Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday. A nursing mother, Mrs Rashidat Adebayo, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for dealing in illicit drugs. A statement on Sunday by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said the suspect was arrested in Offa, Kwara State, with assorted drugs, including tramadol, swinol, diazepam and pentazocine injection ampules.
