Boko Haram captures, kills soldiers after invading another military base in Borno


While the recent reported attacks are yet to simmer down, suspected Boko Haram terrorists, again launched attack at the base of the Nigerian Army in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, killing an undisclosed number of soldiers.

Sources said that the incident happened at Forward Operation Base of the 153 Task Force Battalion, around 3:00am on Monday, as the troops were dislodged and many soldiers captured during the attack.

Local security operatives said that, “ISWAP took over Marte, an unspecified number of soldiers were killed, some captured and many have deserted. They ran towards Dikwa, and are currently at the 24 Task force Brigade, Dikwa.

“The terrorists also burnt down armoured tanks and made away with arms and ammunition from the base, they claimed”.

Marte, a 38 kilometer road from Dikwa, is the headquarters of Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.

However , it was gathered that after the attack in Dikwa, the military regrouped and gunshots were heard. Also, a fighter jet of the Nigeria Air Force was seen hovering the area, to forestall further invasion.
