The United Kingdom’s Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has announced a sweeping immigration reform plan that seeks to deport 150,000 illegal migrants every year — a move she described as the “toughest border policy Britain has ever seen.”
In a video message shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, Badenoch unveiled the Radical Borders Plan, which proposes the creation of a new Removals Force modelled after the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The new agency, she said, would be empowered to detain and deport illegal migrants more swiftly and effectively.
“My message is clear: if you are in the UK illegally, you will be detained and deported,” Badenoch declared. “Our new Removals Force will oversee the deportation of 150,000 illegal migrants every year.”
Known for her uncompromising stance on immigration, Badenoch criticised both Conservative and Labour governments for what she described as years of failure in tackling illegal migration.
“Successive governments have failed on immigration,” she said. “Labour promised to smash the gangs but, in just one year, they presided over record small boat crossings — more than 50,000 illegal arrivals, 32,000 asylum seekers housed in hotels, and billions of pounds wasted. It is pure weakness.”
Key elements of the plan include a ban on asylum claims from illegal entrants, repeal of the Human Rights Act, and the UK’s withdrawal from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
Badenoch further proposed that all illegal entrants be deported within seven days, removing legal barriers that have historically delayed deportations. The plan also recommends imposing visa sanctions on countries that refuse to take back their nationals.
She added that the new enforcement body would end what she termed “the asylum hotel racket,” claiming it would save taxpayers billions of pounds while restoring public confidence in border control.
“Only the Conservatives have a serious, credible plan to protect our borders,” Badenoch concluded. “If you come here illegally, you will be deported.”
