The Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has passed away at the age of 91.
His death was confirmed on Sunday, just hours after the reported demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a longtime friend and associate of the revered monarch.
Oba Adetona ascended the throne in 1960, making him one of Nigeria’s longest-serving traditional rulers. Over the decades, he earned widespread respect as a bold, influential royal figure who championed good governance, tradition, and Yoruba unity.
