Okagbare disqualified for false start, apologises to fans

Nigeria’s sprinter, Blessing Okagbare, was on Monday disqualified in heat one of the women’s 100m semi-final race for a false start. Before being disqualified, Nigeria’s fastest athlete in the women’s 100m had a good run in Heat 3, clocking 11.53secs to place first. Oil pipeline vandalism rise by 77% -NNPC

Oil and gas pipeline vandalism has risen by 77 per cent in June this year. This was made known by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) yesterday. The newly released June edition of the corporation’s Monthly Financial and Operations Report (MFOR) showed that 106 pipeline points were breached as against the 60 points vandalised the preceding month. The federal government of Nigeria has been slammed with $9bn in damages for letting down its 201 million residents by failing to complete a gas supply and production agreement that would have transformed their lives.
