N7.65billion fraud: Orji Kalu sentenced to 12years in prison

A Lagos Division of the Federal High Court, on Thursday, December 5, 2019 sentenced a serving senator and ex-governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, to 12 years in prison for N7.65 billion fraud. Justice Mohammed Idris who delivered the sentence had earlier declared him guilty of the charge in the case that had been on for 12 years. It was a devastating news for the family Moradeun Balogun, a 28-year-old lady who was stabbed on Monday by armed robbers and allegedly denied treatment by a Lagos hospital. She died on Thursday. A canoe mishap in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State has claimed the lives of six teenage girls, after it capsized while ferrying the victims across Tindifai River on Monday.
