A blogger, Ifeoma Nwafor, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos following her arraignment before the Federal High Court over alleged cyberstalking involving billionaire businesswoman, Mrs. Folashade Okoya.
The development came days after Nwafor reportedly tendered a public apology to Okoya over social media publications which she acknowledged as false.
Nwafor was accused of using her Instagram account to publish offensive, false and malicious statements about the businesswoman.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge when she was arraigned before the court.
The court subsequently granted her bail in the sum of ₦3 million, with two sureties in like sum.
As part of the bail conditions, one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant, while both sureties are required to reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
The sureties must also provide three years’ tax clearance certificates, National Identification Numbers (NIN) and passport photographs.
However, as Nwafor was unable to immediately meet the bail conditions, the court ordered that she be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of the requirements.
The case has been adjourned until November 8, 2026, for trial.
