A socio-political group, The Lagos Third Eye (TEL), has declared its support for Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The group, in a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Olatunde Malik-Agbalaya, said its decision followed consultations and town-hall engagements across the five IBILE divisions of Lagos State.
The Lagos Third Eye said it assessed leading aspirants before settling for Hamzat, whom it described as possessing the vision, experience and leadership qualities required to move Lagos forward.
“Lagos does not need politics as usual. It needs foresight. It needs a leader who can see beyond the obvious and see the Lagos of tomorrow. That is why we call ourselves Lagos Third Eye, and that is why we have chosen to support Dr Hamzat,” Malik-Agbalaya said.
According to the group, Hamzat’s positions on youth employment, infrastructure renewal, technology-driven governance and security were among the issues that informed its decision.
The movement also called on Lagos residents, particularly young and first-time voters, to participate actively in the electoral process and consider candidates based on their programmes, records and vision for the state.
The group said it would commence a statewide voter sensitisation and grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
Hamzat, who is currently serving as Lagos State Deputy Governor, is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The Lagos Third Eye described its endorsement as part of its broader commitment to promoting what it considers visionary, accountable and inclusive leadership in Lagos State.
