Nigerian Afrobeats singer Raheem Okoya, popularly known as Siraheem, has announced his decision to step away from the music industry.
Raheem, the son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, made the announcement in a statement shared on his social media accounts on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old singer explained that he had struggled to balance his music career with his other commitments, making it increasingly difficult for him to give his music the time, effort and dedication he believes it deserves.
According to him, music began as a hobby he enjoyed with friends before eventually becoming a professional career.
“Over the past year, holding that alongside my other commitments has grown harder,” he said, explaining that he had always believed in giving his best to whatever he pursued.
Raheem said he therefore felt it was necessary to make a “professional exit” rather than continue releasing music without being able to devote adequate attention to it.
He thanked his fans, colleagues and supporters for helping him fulfil his dream of pursuing music.
However, the singer stressed that leaving music does not mean the end of his creative journey.
He disclosed plans to explore other creative fields and venture into new projects.
Raheem also revealed that he has unreleased music which he considers some of the best material of his career. He suggested that the album could still be released in the future.
“Music still remains therapeutic for me,” he said, while leaving the door open for a possible return to music.
Raheem began his professional music journey around 2022 and has released songs including “Bad Bitch Syndrome,” “Kowope,” “SOWETO” and “TRU$T FUND.” His eight-track debut project, By The Order Of The City, was released in May 2026.
Away from music, Raheem is an executive director at Eleganza Industrial City Limited, his father’s company, and has previously spoken about learning the family business alongside his other interests.
Despite announcing his exit, Raheem ended his message on an open note, suggesting that his music career may not be over forever.
“Never say never,” he said.
