London Court Clears Former Nigerian Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke of All Corruption Charges

In a significant ruling, a London jury acquitted Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, of six bribery charges on Wednesday. The trial marked a rare instance of a high-profile energy official facing corruption allegations.

Alison-Madueke, who served from 2010 to 2015 under President Goodluck Jonathan, was accused of accepting bribes for lucrative contracts in Nigeria, allegations she vigorously denied, asserting she never engaged in corrupt practices.

Despite the prosecution’s claims that she enjoyed a lavish lifestyle funded by industry figures, the jury found insufficient evidence to substantiate the charges against her.
