Veteran Nigerian singer Friday Igweh, popularly known as Baba Fryo, has weighed in on the failed marriage of music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia and actress Annie Idibia, blaming their shared lifestyle in the entertainment industry for the collapse of their union.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the Dem Go Dey Pose crooner said both 2Baba and Annie lacked proper management of their relationship, which was further complicated by their involvement in the same demanding industry.
“2Face and his wife didn’t manage themselves well. They are both entertainers — Annie is an actress, and 2Face is a musician,” Fryo stated.
He emphasized that in a successful marriage, one partner should be able to stabilize the other. “When a man is drinking, the woman is supposed to watch him and calm him down. But if both drink, who will take the other home?” he asked, alluding to the couple’s reported shared lifestyle habits.
Baba Fryo also revealed he has known 2Baba’s current partner, Natasha, since her childhood. “I once carried her on my lap when she was just three years old,” he said.
2Baba announced his separation from Annie earlier in January via Instagram, describing the split as painful but necessary. The former couple, who married in 2012, share two daughters.
Since the breakup, the singer has been publicly seen with Natasha at several events, confirming reports of a new relationship.
The Idibias’ marriage had long been a subject of public interest, with multiple reports over the years pointing to tension, infidelity rumors, and emotional strain. Baba Fryo’s recent comments have added fresh perspective to the highly scrutinized breakup.
