Two persons were feared killed on Sunday after armed men attacked St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. The gunmen, who invaded the church premises at about 7:30 a.m. while worshippers were gathering for service, opened fire indiscriminately, sending members scampering for safety. A High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has delivered a landmark judgment in favour of an Ekpo masquerade practitioner, ruling that his arrest and detention by state authorities were unlawful and a violation of his fundamental rights.
