Tragic Fuel Tanker Explosion in Ore, Ondo State Claims Lives of Pregnant Woman, Three Children, and Others


Yesterday, a tragic incident occurred in Ore, Ondo State, where a tanker carrying fuel crashed and spilled its contents. The driver lost control of the speeding tanker, causing it to fall into a ditch on Showboy Road. As the fuel began to spill, some locals rushed to scoop the fuel using buckets and kegs.

Unfortunately, disaster struck when the spilled fuel caught fire, leading to a massive explosion. A pregnant woman and her three children, along with 18 others who were scooping fuel, were among the victims who lost their lives in the horrific incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that the intensity of the fire made it impossible to rescue those caught in the flames. The situation was incredibly tense, and many bodies were burnt beyond recognition. Officials from the Federal Road Safety Commission had to use sacks to collect the remains of those affected.

According to the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, eight people were confirmed dead as a result of the explosion. The driver and the motor boy of the tanker, however, managed to escape the scene unharmed.

The incident has left the community devastated, with families mourning the loss of their loved ones who tragically lost their lives while trying to scoop fuel from the crashed tanker. The remains of the deceased have been taken to the morgue at the General Hospital in Ore.
