Man, 61, remanded for allegedly defiling minor

Olayiwola Rasak, a 61-year-old man has been arrested by the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and remanded in prison on the order of Family Court, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.

The NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, said this on Friday in a statement by the spokesperson for the command, Oluwole Olusegun.

He said that the suspect was charged to court for rape contrary to Section 34(1) and punishable under Section 34(2) of the Child Rights Law of Oyo State by the Anti-Human trafficking and Child Protection Unit of the command.

He added that the suspect was remanded at Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo town.

He said, “The suspect was arrested for defiling a 15-years-old girl and continuously raping her for over four years. He was said to have deflowered the girl when she was 11years.

“The Chief Magistrate, S. H. Adebisi, of Family Court 1 Iyaganku, Ibadan, after hearing the charges against the suspect ordered that he should be remanded until November 8, 2021.”

Adaralewa said that the suspect was arraigned after medical examination and thorough investigation.

He added that the suspect had earlier voluntarily confessed that he once had sexual intercourse with the victim.
