In-laws Arrested for Abducting Widow’s Children in Anambra

Two women, Felicia Nwosu and Chinenye Nwosu, from Anambra State, have been presented at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka. They are accused of forcibly taking custody of two underage children from a widow named Sharon Nwosu.

These women, who are the mother-in-law and sister-in-law of the widow, allegedly seized the children after accusing Sharon of killing her late husband. Sharon’s trouble with her in-laws began when she refused to hand over her husband’s laptop and phone to his junior brother, who demanded the possessions.

The widow reported the situation to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, leading to the arrests. The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, expressed disapproval of the incident and assured Sharon that her children would be returned. The alleged culprits have been summoned to appear before the ministry with all parties involved for further investigation on Tuesday.
