Helicopter crash in Nepal claims six lives

A helicopter carrying six passengers crashed shortly after taking off near Mount Everest in Nepal, resulting in the death of all individuals on board.

The incident occurred during a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, and contact with the helicopter was lost approximately 10 minutes after departure.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal confirmed that six bodies were found at the crash site. This tragedy follows a plane crash in Nepal’s western region six months ago, which claimed the lives of all 72 people onboard.

Nepal is known for its poor aviation safety record, and this incident highlights the challenges faced by pilots due to the country’s remote and difficult runways surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

The mountainous terrain and rapidly changing weather conditions often create hazardous flying conditions.

Inadequate training and maintenance have further plagued Nepal’s aviation sector. Safety concerns have prompted the European Union to prohibit all Nepali carriers from operating in its airspace.
