Councillor’s Murder: Enugu State Police Arrest Suspected Killer, Launch Manhunt for Remaining Culprits


One of the suspected killers of Nelson Sylvester, a councillor representing the Eha-Ulo Ward in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command. Nelson Sylvester, also known as Ofunwa, was fatally shot at his residence in Eha-Alumonah community by gunmen believed to be assassins.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident and stated that a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime. In a statement released on Monday, DSP Daniel Ndukwe provided details about the arrest of one male suspect, who is a member of the criminal gang responsible for the attack and murder of Nelson Sylvester. The incident occurred on July 16, 2023, at around 11:30 pm in Umualoji Village, Ehalumona community in Nsukka.

Following the attack, local residents searched for Nelson Sylvester at his residence but could not locate him. It was later discovered that his lifeless body was found in the backyard of a neighboring compound, indicating that he had succumbed to his bullet wounds.

Overall, the Enugu State Police Command has taken swift action by apprehending one of the suspected killers and is actively pursuing the arrest of the remaining individuals involved in this heinous crime.
