Abuja trickster posing as FBI agent defrauds Spaniard of €5.7m

A man named Ifechukwu Makwe, posing as an FBI agent, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

Makwe is accused of defrauding a Spaniard of €5.7 million through various false identities. He was apprehended in the Guzape area of Abuja based on credible intelligence regarding his fraudulent internet activities.

Makwe, who used aliases such as Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, and Dr Bran, convinced his victim of his FBI agent and diplomatic solicitor status.

The fraudulent activities began in 2013 when he initially met the victim on social media. The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, stated that Makwe would face charges in court once the investigations are completed.
