Late Kayode Badru

The pastor in charge of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Imole Parish, Alagbado – Lagos, is at present in police detention with two other members of the church over the death of the Nigerian born, Dubai based socialite, Kayode Badru.

The parish pastor, Felix Alebiosu allegedly sprayed perfume on the victim, who was holding a lighted candle, and this led to an inferno that severely burnt him.

Although, it was said that the action was not a delibrate attempt to burn Badru, but to fortify him spiritually but it backfired, leading to the death of the man who is one of the financial pillars of the pastor and the parish.

Report has it that, Badru flew into the country from his Dubai base to celebrate the graduation of the 40 students he sponsored to the Academic for Innovative Art and Technology.

He later went to the church on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, for a programme and knelt for prayers with lighted candles and seven elders of the church surrounding him, when the unfortunate incident happened.

He was rushed to a hospital in Gbagada, where he died.

However, the Celestial Church of Christ headquaters, blamed the parish for such practice, and it has directed its pastor-in-council to come up with a policy document to curb alien practices that have been introduced into the tenets and doctrines of the church to safeguard its divine culture.
