A 42-year-old married woman, Mrs. Tilewa Olatunde Funke, who was declared missing on April 3, 2026, has been located by security operatives in a hotel room in the Ugbe-Akoko area of Ondo State.
Mrs. Funke, who resides in Ilara-Mokin, was found in the company of a 55-year-old man identified as Isa Alaba, ending a frantic search that lasted several days.
The alarm was first raised when Mrs. Funke left her home for Akure at approximately 10:00 a.m. last Friday. When her phone remained switched off and she failed to return, her family feared the worst, prompting an official report to the authorities.
Contrary to initial fears of abduction, investigations led security teams to a hotel roughly 124 kilometers away from her starting point.
“She was not abducted as initially feared,” a source familiar with the case revealed. “She left on her own without informing anyone and was later found with the man in the hotel.”
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the development but expressed concern over the incident’s impact on public resources, as the search diverted critical security assets away from genuine emergencies.
The police spokesman, however urged families to prioritize internal dialogue to prevent private matters from escalating into public security concerns.
