Gunmen murder Abuja Vet Doctor, abduct his three children

Late Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu

Suspected kidnappers have killed an Abuja-based veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, after invading his residence in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The assailants reportedly stormed his home along the Kubwa–Kaduna road on Friday night, abducting him and his three children. Dr. Ogbu’s lifeless body was later discovered by the roadside, while his children remain in captivity.

News of his death was shared by Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu on Facebook, who wrote:

> “Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa, Abuja, has been found dead. The children are still missing. May God please intervene.”

The late Ogbu has been remembered as a committed and compassionate professional. He leaves behind a nursing wife and heartbroken relatives.

Friends, colleagues, and members of the veterinary community have expressed shock over his tragic death, describing it as a painful loss to both his family and the profession.

This incident comes barely a week after the killing of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, who was shot dead during a robbery in Katampe, another Abuja district.

Police authorities are yet to release an official statement, though investigations into the attack are said to be ongoing.
