Olajide Kareem, alias Seun Egbegbe, a Nollywood filmmaker and producer, has been convicted for fraud by a Federal High Court in Lagos, after spending six years and eight months in prison custody. Egbegbe was remanded on February 10, 2017, after allegedly obtaining money by false pretence from no fewer than 40 Bureaux De Change operators in different parts of Lagos for over a period of two years between 2015 and 2017. A 21-year-old man, Chinedu Eziuzo, has been sentenced to seven months’ imprisonment by a Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, for raping his 14-year-old sister in Adazi-Enu, in the Anaocha Local Government Area of the state. Eziuzo was said to have committed the crime in 2021, but was arrested on May 30, 2022. The judge, Dr Nnamdi Dimgba, said the sentence would commence from the day of his arrest. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has arrested a 49-year-old housewife, Mrs Augustina Ikyor, in Makurdi for allegedly stealing two-month-old twins. The Makurdi Zonal Commander of the agency, Mrs Gloria Bai, who made this known, yesterday, said her office acted on a distress message from the mother of the babies, who, Tuesday, raised the alarm, alleging that the suspect tricked her and took away her twin babies to an unknown destination. Police have arrested three men in the Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State, for allegedly attempting to kidnap their former employer, Ifenuga Olayinka, after he sacked them . The suspects — Peter Nse, 24; Chuckwuma Nwobodo, 48; and Michael Umanah, 30 — were arrested following a complaint by Olayinka. Three nurses at a private hospital have been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command in Asaba, over the alleged removal of the eyes, nose and ear of a deceased newborn baby.
