190,000 Africans may die from coronavirus in 2020 – WHO

The World Health Organisation has warned that up to 190,000 people in Africa could die of coronavirus in the first year of the pandemic if containment measures fail. The UN health agency cited a new study by its regional office in Brazzaville which found that between 83,000 and 190,000 could die and 29 to 44 million be infected during the period. Lassa fever hits Edo, Ondo, Ebonyi, cases rise to 973

The number of confirmed cases of Lassa fever in the country has increased to 973 in the 15th week of 2020 from the 963 cases recorded in the 14th week, says the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. The conditional emergency approval for the production or importation of COVID-19 antibody and antigen test kits, as well as Personal Protective Equipment has been granted to some companies by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control on Thursday.
