A breast cancer survivor, Deborah Mbara, has accused controversial relationship coach, Blessing CEO, of allegedly altering her medical report and presenting it as evidence of her own illness, in a controversy that has sparked nationwide outrage.
Mbara, a makeup artist based in Asaba, Delta State, alleged that the social media personality obtained her medical record under false pretences and later manipulated it to support claims that she was battling stage four breast cancer.
Speaking in a viral video circulating on social media, Mbara said she had initially shared her medical report with Blessing CEO in good faith after the influencer claimed to be battling cancer and sought to compare results.
“I thought I was helping someone who was going through what I went through,” she said. “Only for me to wake up and see my medical report online, altered and used to push a false narrative.”
The controversy intensified following a statement by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State chapter, which confirmed that the report being circulated by Blessing CEO was not originally issued to her but belonged to another patient.
According to the NMA, the document was traced to Xinus Medical Diagnostics, a laboratory in Asaba, which conducted a confirmatory breast cancer test on May 9, 2025, for Mbara after a referral from a private hospital.
The association, in a statement signed by its chairman, Dr. Israel Adaigho, and secretary, Dr. Usamah Hannah, stated that the medical facility never issued any report to Blessing CEO and described the document in circulation as an altered version of the original.
“Xinus Medical Diagnostics did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro,” the NMA said, urging the public to be guided and calling on authorities to investigate the matter.
Further findings revealed that the original report bearing Mbara’s name had been separately published by a law firm, confirming its authenticity and exposing discrepancies in the version shared by the influencer.
The scandal follows an earlier emotional video by Blessing CEO in which she claimed to have been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, shaved her head, and appealed for financial support from the public. Reports indicate that she raised about ₦13 million in donations before questions began to emerge over the authenticity of her claims.
However, under mounting scrutiny, the influencer later appeared to backtrack, stating that she might have misunderstood her diagnosis and insisting she had no intention to deceive the public.
Mbara further alleged that despite publicly denying any prior relationship with her, Blessing CEO later visited her family to apologise privately, a claim that has further fueled public debate.
Meanwhile, calls for investigation and possible legal action have intensified, with some stakeholders urging law enforcement agencies to probe the alleged misuse of medical documents and public donations.
As of press time, Blessing CEO has yet to issue a comprehensive official response addressing the latest allegations.
Observers say the unfolding saga raises critical concerns about medical privacy, misinformation, and the ethical limits of social media influence in Nigeria.
