‘I’m ready to battle crime in Lagos’

As the race to the Lagos Government House hots up in the Centre of Excellence, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Akinwunmi Ambode in his campaign, said that he is resolved to ensure security of lives and properties in every part of the state by addressing problems of sundry crimes if elected next governor of Lagos State.

The APC governorship candidate stated this during his campaign rally in Mushin area of the state, notorious for criminal and gangster activities, saying he would do this by creating an enabling environment for everyone living in the state to be able to do whatever he was doing successfully and comfortably.

He stated, “We have made Lagos safer in the last eight years. We will make it more secure so that you will have a 24 hours economy in a week. So that you can move round any part, day and night,” he said.

Ambode also pledged that administration, if voted into office, would encourage community policing, saying that the people would be the one watching over their own locality.

“We are going to have community watchers; we will have people here, who will be engaged to watch over all of us and there will be peace and safer city to live in Mushin and other parts,” he said.

The former Accountant-General of Lagos State also urged the residents and supporters of the APC to remain calm, focused and avoid violence, despite provocation by the opponents of the party. He said his campaign is issue based, and would make sure everyone feels the impact of his government when elected.
