Mother, son and girlfriend convicted for $902,935 internet fraud


A woman, Dora Animam; her son, Gift Kenneth and his girlfriend, Spice Chimzi Dandy have been convicted and sentenced to prison by a Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, for internet fraud.

The Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned the convicts before Justice F. A. Olubanjo on one-count charge each for offences bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretences.

They were said to have conspired to defraud an American lady, Lucinda Ann Garnes Henrichson, of a total sum of $902,935. Upon arraignment, they all pleaded guilty to the charge.

Justice Olubanjo convicted and sentenced both Kenneth and his mother, Dora, to five years imprisonment or a fine of N3 million each while Spice was sentenced to two years imprisonment or a fine of N100,000.

The court also ordered that items recovered during investigation, which include Mercedes Benz CL250, Mercedes Benz 300, iPhone I1 Promax, iPhone XX Max, Apple Mac book Pro, two Apple Mac book, N4, 000,000 found in his account, a twin four bedroom uncompleted duplex in Asaba, the cash sum of N4, 000,000 found on him and $4,255 recovered from his contractor be forfeited and restituted to the victim through the American Embassy.
