The victory party of APC candidate, Miriam Onuoha who was returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission, came to an abrupt end when an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps shot and killed the 2019 senatorial candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Imo North senatorial district, Ndubuisi Emenike.
The incident took place around 5pm during a victory party for the All Progressives Congress candidate who won the Okigwe North Federal Constituency held on Saturday.
The tragedy occurred at the APC’s candidate house at Umunachi in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
The NSCDC officer who was attached to the late politician was shooting into the air and mistakenly shot and killed his boss.
The officer has been arrested and taken to the State Command homicide section for questioning.
