82-year-old ace comedian, Moses Olaiya, popularly known as Baba Sala, is dead. Baba Sala died at his private residence in Ilesa, Osun State, on Sunday night. The media aide to the comedian, Mr Isaac Haastrup, said the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa. 12 deaths recorded in Haiti earthquake

At least 12 people have been killed in a 5.9-magnitude earthquake which struck off the northwest coast of Haiti late Saturday. More than 130 others were reportedly injured while homes in the poverty-stricken Caribbean nation, were destroyed, authorities said. The epicenter of the quake was located about 19 kilometers (12 miles) northwest of the city of Port-de-Paix, the US Geological Survey reported. Man imprisoned for stealing girlfriend’s phone

Ifeanyi Chijioke, a 26-year-old man, has been sentenced to one month imprisonment by an Ogba Magistrates’ Court for stealing a phone valued at N150,000 and a sum of N20,000. The police arraigned Chijioke on one count of stealing. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The magistrate, W.A. Salami, gave Chijioke, who was said to be a first time offender, an option of two months’ community service.
